Breaking developments: Sweden issues directive: Prepare for war – What citizens should do
Swedish Defense Minister Pal Jonson has warned that citizens of NATO member countries must prepare “mentally and militarily for the possibility of war.”
Swedish Defense Minister Pal Jonson stated that NATO member states need to prepare their citizens for a “wartime scenario.”
Jonson emphasized that the possibility of war with Russia remains open.
Speaking to RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland (RND), according to a report by RT, in an interview released on Sunday, the Swedish official stressed:
"To maintain peace, we must prepare both mentally and militarily for the possibility of war," the minister said. "A shift in mindset is required: we must move into a wartime posture in order to decisively deter, defend, and safeguard peace."
His statement was accompanied by a photo of Pal Jonson in Warsaw on April 3, 2025.

RT reports that last week, the European Commission presented a “roadmap” to strengthen joint European defense procurement, aiming to reach at least 40% by 2027.
The document highlights the need to “invest more, together and at a European level,” citing geopolitical shifts and the realignment of strategic priorities among traditional allies.
The push for increased military spending aligns with calls from Donald Trump, who demands that European members purchase more American weapons—even for use by the Ukrainian army.
Jonson defended these purchases, explaining that Europe “simply does not yet have or cannot yet produce” the necessary systems.
"Ukraine needs these capabilities immediately," he said. "If Europe does not have them, it is reasonable to procure them from the United States."
