They are dismantling them - Chaos in Kyiv, Ukraine in darkness - Sweeping attack with Iskander, Kinzhal, and 430 drones

"Almost every district of Kyiv was hit," say the Ukrainians. Which targets did the Russians strike? Zelensky's new appeal for aid to the US and Europe.

Ukraine and Kyiv have been plunged into chaos and darkness for yet another 24 hours, with the capital at the center of the new massive Russian attack involving 430 drones and 18 ballistic missiles, including Kinzhal and Iskander.
According to Ukrainian authorities, the attack killed 4 people while 27 others were injured. Although Kyiv claims that the targets of the attacks were civilian infrastructure, Russia categorically denies this, stating that its targets are military and that any damage to urban areas is the result of debris from anti-aircraft fire.
In any case, due to the attack, problems with electricity and heating were reported in many regions of Ukraine.
Many argue that this winter will be the most difficult and the "darkest" in decades for Ukrainians, whose dissatisfaction with Zelensky and the Kyiv regime is escalating.

Attack with 430 drones and 18 missiles

In his statements, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed that Russia attacked with 430 drones and 18 missiles, stating that the "attack was deliberately calculated and aimed at causing maximum damage to people and civilian infrastructure."

The Ukrainian president said that 4 people were killed in the attack, while many others were injured, including children. Following the attack, Zelensky reiterated the call that "the world must stop these attacks with sanctions," warning that "Russia can still sell oil and implement its plans."

We want more Patriot systems

"All this must end. A great effort is being made with our partners to strengthen our air defense, but it is not enough. We need reinforcement with additional systems and interceptor missiles," argued Zelensky, calling on the EU and the US for help. In this context, he said that to repel the night attack, Ukraine used the Patriot anti-missile defense systems, which — according to Zelensky — shot down two aeroballistic and six ballistic Russian missiles.

The instruction to Ukrainian diplomats

In fact, Zelensky mentioned that he instructed the country's diplomats to "fully inform our partners about the Russian attacks, their nature, and their selected targets." Furthermore, it was announced that Zelensky will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron next Monday, November 17, in Paris.

Terror from the sky

In her statements, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko spoke of an unprecedented attack, claiming that at least 30 residential buildings were hit.

She said at least 26 people were injured, including two children and a pregnant woman. "These are families who went to sleep expecting a normal night, and instead faced terror from the sky. Every such attack underscores a clear and urgent truth: Ukraine needs air defense and decisive steps to increase pressure on the aggressor. The long-awaited decision on frozen Russian assets must proceed without delay. It is a strategic necessity," the Ukrainian Prime Minister emphasized.

It appears to be Patriot

However, this narrative is disputed by Ukrainian MP Alexander Fedyenko, who posted two photos following the attacks in Kyiv.
Specifically, the Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Digital Transformation and a member of the Defense Committee, Alexander Fedyenko, posted photos on social media showing a missile warhead from an air defense system that had fallen near the entrance of an apartment building, noting that "an anti-aircraft system warhead can fall anywhere." "It appears to be 'Patriot'," Fedyenko underlined.

Massive attack on Kyiv

For his part, Kyiv's military commander, Timur Tkatchenko, claimed that the attack focused on Kyiv, where almost every area of the city was hit. Many destructions and material damages were reported from the attacks.
Specifically, in the Podil district, a hit on a multi-storey building on the 15th floor was reported, where 13 people were rescued. In the Dnipro district, a fire was extinguished in two apartments on the first floor of a five-storey apartment building, where 17 people were rescued. In the Darnytsia district, a fire broke out on school grounds. In the Desnianskyi district, a fire erupted in an apartment building on the 7th floor, and during the extinguishing, 9 people were rescued while 50 others were evacuated.

In the Solomianskyi district, the roof and the 5th floor of an apartment building caught fire, and 20 people were rescued during the extinguishing. In the Svyatoshyn district, a hit on a residence on the 7th floor was reported. In the Holosiivskyi district, debris fell on a hospital. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a fire in an open area was extinguished, and in the Obolon district, a hit occurred on a 9-storey apartment building, causing a fire in apartments from the 7th to the 9th floor.
The attack left the city without electricity and heating, with the situation being dramatic and authorities trying to restore essential infrastructure. According to the Telegram channel Shot, energy infrastructure facilities in the Kyiv region were targeted again.

Russia: Strike on strategic military targets

The Russian Armed Forces launched a combined strike on strategic and military targets in Ukraine, claims Russian military analyst Yury Podolyak. He says that at the forefront of the attack were Kyiv's thermal power plants (TETs-4, TETs-5, TETs-6), as well as the TETs in Belocherkova. "Kyiv substations were also hit. Most likely, the number of energy targets hit is greater, but this will be determined later. At the same time, the number of Kinzhal and Iskander missiles is estimated at over 20. Also, over 100 drones reached Kyiv," Podolyak reported, who underlined that the Ukrainians observed a new tactic from the Russian drones, which fly at an extremely low altitude. The air defense seemed unable to cope.
"As usual, the Ukrainian air defense shot down some drones inside the city, which fell on residential buildings. And the Ukrainian media, as usual, are telling people fairy tales and blaming the 'bad Russians'. This is now a common story. I think no one in Ukraine believes it anymore," Podolyak stressed.

Which targets did the Russians strike?

Russian experts claim that, in addition to energy infrastructure, other Ukrainian strategic targets were hit. Specifically:

  • In Poltava: Poltava oil depots, energy objects (substations), and storage areas were destroyed.

  • In Sumy: Military targets near the border, Ukrainian Army depots, mobile radar, and artillery positions.

  • In Chernihiv: Communication stations, warehouses, and railway stations in the Bakhmach area.

  • In Kherson: Artillery positions and multiple rocket launch systems of the Ukrainian Army, strikes on storage complexes in the city of Kherson.

  • In Kharkiv: Chuhuiv air base (a targeted strike occurred), ammunition depots, and infrastructure of the Kharkiv hub.

  • In Zaporizhia: Repair facilities, and objects of the Ukrainian Weapons Program.

  • In Dnipropetrovsk: Pavlohrad - Synelnykove railway junctions, missile depots, and repair facilities.

  • In Donetsk: Strategic depots and military force movement in the Kramatorsk direction.

  • In Mykolaev: Artillery areas, strategic infrastructure, air defense objects, and barracks with soldiers were destroyed.

  • In Odesa: Air defense and electronic warfare objects, and energy objects supplying the port.

  • In Cherkasy: Kaniv electronic station, energy depots, and bridge infrastructure over the Dnieper.

  • In Kirovohrad: Military airfield, communication stations, and depots.

  • In Vinnytsia: Kozyatyn railway junction, transport corridors to western Ukraine, and weapons infrastructure.

  • In Kyiv: Strategic defense points, energy infrastructure, military bases, depots, and repair zones.

Warnings even for evacuation

On the eve of the attack, former Ukrainian Energy Minister Ivan Plachkov warned that Ukraine is at risk of a complete power outage. The former official noted that precisely this issue — providing electricity and heating to citizens and their homes — must now be addressed by the Ukrainian authorities.
Ivan Plachkov also urged Ukrainians to leave large cities for the winter. According to him, attacks in western Ukraine could disrupt the unified electricity grid.
Ukrainian media also reported that in the event of a complete power outage in Kyiv, authorities may evacuate some residents. City officials have assured that evacuation plans exist and that they can evacuate people in case of accidents involving the release of radioactive or dangerous chemical substances, floods, or armed conflict. However, these plans do not include a power outage.
Ukraine has already lost almost 80% of its natural gas infrastructure, leading Kyiv to increasingly disconnect the country's electricity supply. As a result, energy production at all of the country's combined heat and power stations has stopped, and the impending energy collapse has already caused Ukraine's military-industrial complex, particularly missile production, to operate at reduced capacity.

Fierce attack also in Chernomorsk in Odesa

A fierce attack by Russian drones was also recorded in the market of Chernomorsk in the Odesa region. According to the head of the Odesa regional administration, Oleg Kiper, this attack killed 2 people while 7 others were injured.
"The attack caused damage to the central square of the city, the facades of shops, and private vehicles. The explosion broke windows in a neighboring college," Kiper stated.
