Google proceeded with the removal of the VK and Max applications from the Google Play Store, in a new move that intensifies the digital exclusion of Russian services from Western technological platforms.
Although already installed applications continue to function normally on Android devices, new users can now obtain them only through alternative app stores, while their corresponding deletion from the Apple App Store had preceded.
New digital block
Specifically, the VK and Max applications are no longer available for download through the Google Play Store, according to an announcement by the Russian company VK.
As the company stated, the applications have been withdrawn from the electronic store of Google, however, those who have already installed them can continue to use them normally and without restrictions.
Notifications continue to function
According to VK, Android device users will continue to receive push notifications normally for new messages, events, and calls through the VK and Max applications.
The company also clarified that the applications remain available for installation through alternative app stores for Android, such as RuStore, Huawei AppGallery, Samsung Galaxy Store, Xiaomi GetApps, and others.
Removal from App Store had preceded
This development follows the previous decision of Apple to remove the applications of the VK group from the App Store, including Max.
At that time, VK had stated that Apple proceeded with this action unilaterally and without prior warning. As a result, iPhone users ceased to receive notifications for new messages and calls through the messaging application.
