Footage broadcast from the war fronts of Ukraine shows former Greek 105 mm howitzers Howitzer M101A1 being used on the battlefield by the 25th Elite Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian army in operations against the Russians.
From the audiovisual material, it does not clearly emerge the location where the former Greek equipment that was handed over to Kyiv was deployed, recklessly and with complete arbitrariness, by the Mitsotakis government, however it is clear that upon its arrival from Greece, the weapons system was immediately pressed into combat.
Due to the shortage of weapons systems, the Ukrainians hastened to turn the Howitzer M101A1 against the Russian troops.
The revelations of BN regarding the shipment of valuable equipment to Ukraine
The obsessive alignment of the Mitsotakis government with the wrong side of history, namely in favor of the Zelensky regime, not only demolishes the long standing ties of our country with Russia, but ultimately proves to be criminally dangerous for national defense, and by extension, for our national sovereignty.
With its latest decision, the Ministry of Defense is emptying entire warehouses of valuable equipment of the Greek Army, in order to send them to Ukraine and have them used in operations against the Russians.
Indeed, we are not talking about weapons of the 19th century, but about self propelled howitzers M110A2 of 203 mm.
60 M110A2 and 150.000 shells are rushed to Ukraine
More specifically, the Mitsotakis government is preparing a new equipment package for Ukraine, which includes dozens of heavy weapons and tens of thousands of munitions, among them 60 self propelled guns M110A2 of 203 mm.
In particular, according to the Ukrainian outlet Militarnyi, citing a report by EfSyn, the Greek Ministry of National Defense plans to transfer to Ukraine 60 self propelled guns M110A2 of 203 mm, 150.000 shells for them, as well as thousands of Zuni rockets of 70mm and 127mm via the Czech Republic.
These weapons have been characterized as not operationally necessary by KYSEA, as they are considered outdated and do not meet the current requirements of the Hellenic Armed Forces.
The materials come from the stockpiles of the Hellenic Army and the Hellenic Air Force, and delivery will be made as is.
Total equipment package valued at 200 million euros
The total value of the defense package is estimated at over 199 million euros.
The military leadership assures that the export will not affect the defensive capabilities of the country, as funding has been secured for the modernization of the arsenal.
The package includes: 60 M110A2 guns, 50.000 M106 shells, 40.000 M650 HERA shells, 30.000 M404 ICM shells, 30.000 M509A1 DPICM shells, and rockets.
The M509A1 DPICM contains up to 180 dual purpose submunitions for neutralizing armored vehicles and personnel.
It is noted that the final decision on the transfer of the equipment will be taken by KYSEA, chaired by the Prime Minister himself.
What the shipment of M110A2 to Ukraine removes from Greek defense
It is recalled that the M110A2 is an American large caliber self propelled howitzer (203 mm) designed for the destruction of fortified positions, headquarters, ammunition depots, and other strategic targets.
It is an upgraded version of the base M110 model, which has been in active service since the 1960s.
The M110A2 can fire at a distance of up to 30 km (with HERA type rocket assisted shells).
Its main advantage is the power of its ammunition: a single shell can weigh over 100 kilograms and cause significant destruction.
The A2 version received an improved gun with a longer barrel, which increased its range.
However, since the early 2000s, the M110A2 has gradually been withdrawn by some NATO countries due to its outdated design, low rate of fire, and lack of automation.
The Greek equipment package that the Zelensky regime will receive
According to information that leaked days ago to Greek media, such as EfSyn, Greece is sending the following equipment to the Zelensky regime:
1) 60 self propelled howitzers M110A2 with an estimated value of at least 31.219.000 euros
2) 50.000 high explosive shells (HE: High Explosive) type M106 with M2 filling, for an amount of at least 41.5 million euros
3) 40.000 long range shells type M650 HERA (High Explosive Rocket Assisted, high explosive rocket assisted) with M188A1 filling, with an estimated value of at least 60 million euros
4) 30.000 cluster shells type M404 ICM (Improved Conventional Munition) with M188A1 filling, for an amount of at least 33 million euros
5) 30.000 cluster shells type M509A1 DPICM (Dual Purpose Improved Conventional Munition) with M188A1 filling, with a value of at least 33.6 million euros.
It is noted that each M509A1 shell disperses 180 dual purpose bomblets against armored targets (with the shaped charge they are equipped with) and against personnel of type M42.
