Serious problems and malfunctions in Starlink communications are being recorded in Ukraine, which has begun restricting communications through these satellite systems that the Russians have recently installed on Shahed drones.
“Many users of the Starlink satellite communications system in Ukraine are already observing the first countermeasures taken by SpaceX at the request of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.”
“I cannot publicly announce everything that has already been done, is being done, and will be done.”
“The current decisions are temporary and will be replaced by a global, well thought out solution, which will require time.”
In particular, the serious problems began after the decision by SpaceX to impose drastic countermeasures.
According to Serhii Beskrestnov, an adviser to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on technology issues, known by the pseudonym Flash, these restrictions are temporary and aim to prevent Russian attack drones from exploiting the satellite system.
However, this move resembles a double edged sword that threatens to paralyze Ukrainian forces.
The 90 kilometer limit that changes the war
As revealed by the outlet Strana.ua, the new restrictions are automatically activated when the speed of a device exceeds 90 kilometers per hour.
This makes it practically impossible to use aircraft type drones that rely on Starlink for guidance.
The major question hovering over the front is whether these countermeasures affect only Russian devices or whether they have locked all aerial assets operating in the skies over Ukraine, causing chaos for the forces of Kyiv.

Russian counterattack with an annihilation plan
Ukrainian journalist Yurii Butusov warns of an impending disaster, emphasizing that Russian forces will continue to use Starlink on their drones by bypassing the restrictions.
According to Butusov, Russian specialists have already developed a winning strategy that leaves the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense exposed.
The Russian side appears to be adapting faster, turning SpaceX restrictions into an advantage for Moscow’s forces.
The nightmare of Kometa and the paralysis of the Ukrainians
Russian Telegram channels specializing in the development of unmanned systems call for calm, explaining that the speed restriction requires continuous movement above 90 kilometers per hour for two minutes before the system locks.
Russian analysts point out that they possess their own high class satellite navigation system, Kometa, which can guide the drone to the target and activate Starlink only at the final stage of the attack.
By contrast, Ukrainian forces are entirely dependent on the system of Elon Musk, making them vulnerable to any change in terms of use.

Crushing blow at Mirgorod airfield
The effectiveness of the new Russian tactic was clearly demonstrated in the attack on the airfield in the city of Mirgorod in Poltava Region.
Russian BM-35 drones equipped with Starlink managed to strike F-16 and Su-27 fighter aircraft, as well as radar stations.
These drones reach speeds of 150 to 200 kilometers per hour, unlike conventional reconnaissance drones, and are now being used en masse to locate and destroy strategic targets deep inside Ukrainian territory.
First appearance of Geran drones with satellite guidance
The escalation peaked with the revelation by Serhii Beskrestnov that Russia used Geran type drones equipped with Starlink for the first time to attack Ukrainian helicopters near Kropyvnytskyi.
Video analysis showed automatic target acquisition and manual guidance via real time imagery, without the need for other drones in the area to form a network.
Russians are now flying their drones almost at ground level to avoid radars, using cutting edge technology to sow devastation.
