Shock in the European Parliament: Immunity lift for Afroditi Latinopoulou triggers courtroom battle over “forged signatures”, Greek right in turmoil
The disputes within the Greek right will be judged in courtrooms, as the President of Voice of Reason herself had requested the lifting of her immunity in order to prove her innocence

The confrontation between the journalist and former MP Konstantinos Bogdanos and the MEP and president of “Voice of Reason”, Afroditi Latinopoulou, is moving to the courtrooms, on the occasion of the founding declaration of the party “Voice of Reason” and the complaints regarding the forgery of citizens’ signatures.
The case began in November 2024, when K. Bogdanos filed a criminal complaint against A. Latinopoulou, alleging that forged signatures had been used in the party’s founding declaration.
The complaint was co-signed by two additional members of “Voice of Reason”.
According to what Mr. Bogdanos had stated at the time, the competent authorities were requested to urgently examine the authenticity of the names and signatures submitted during the establishment of the party, claiming that some of them did not correspond to real persons.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office of First Instance proceeded with the evaluation of the file and assigned the case to an investigating judge.
Within the framework of the investigation, Konstantinos Bogdanos as well as members who are alleged to have signed the declaration were called to testify.
After the completion of the preliminary procedure, a case file was formed, which was again forwarded to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of First Instance.
Subsequently, a request was submitted to the European Parliament for the lifting of the immunity of Afroditi Latinopoulou, in order for the criminal procedure to proceed.
The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, announced today in plenary the transmission of the relevant request from the Greek judiciary.
The case is now expected to be forwarded to the Committee on Legal Affairs (JURI) of the European Parliament, which will carry out the evaluation and will call A. Latinopoulou in order to take a decision on the lifting of her immunity.
It should be noted that Ms. Latinopoulou had voluntarily submitted, since January, a request for the lifting of her parliamentary immunity to Roberta Metsola.
“For months I have been subjected to relentless mudslinging, defamation, political persecution and legal harassment from political opponents, media serving specific interests and centers of power that are disturbed by the presence of VOICE OF REASON in the European Parliament,” Ms. Latinopoulou had stated at the time, requesting that the procedure for the lifting of her immunity be initiated immediately so that full light may be shed on the case.
